Staff in this section evaluate and classify positions under the
State Universities Civil Service System and recommend the creation and/or revision of
class specifications to the Civil Service System.
They also establish and implement policies and procedures related to
wage and other forms of compensation for Civil Service Staff.
Services include:
Classification
- conducting position audits
- providing assistance in writing job descriptions
- reviewing Employee Requisitions for
appropriate classification
- coordinating and monitoring the
Departmental Classification Program
Salary Administration
- approving new hire/promotional salary requests greater than 10%
above the minimum
- processing salary increases
- recommending and implementing changes to staff
compensation plans
- establishing and reevaluating salary grade
assignments
- conducting and participating in salary surveys;
analyzing market data
